Author Bio:
Suzanne Lieurance is a former classroom teacher, now a freelance writer, children’s author, speaker, and The Working Writer’s Coach. She is the founder and director of the National Writing for Children Center and the Children’s Writers Coaching Club.
Lieurance has written over 13 books for children that are currently on the market, with one more due for release in May 2008. She has ghost written many other books, both for children and adults. In addition, she has written over 100 articles for a variety of magazines, newsletters, and ezines like Family-Fun, Kansas City Weddings, Instructor Magazine, New Moon for Girls, Children’s Writer, and many others. She has also written curriculum materials for such educational publishers as Harcourt Educational Measurement, Teacher Created Materials, Flying Rhino, Siboney Learning Group, Grolier’s Encyclopedia, and Encyclopedia Britannica.
Lieurance is a former regional advisor for the Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators, and she taught online workshops for children’s writers at Coffeehouse for Writers for several years. Lieurance has also been an instructor with the Institute of Children’s Literature for over 5 years, working with more than 100 students every year. Many of her students have become published – some of them even before they finished her course.
Lieurance holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in English and a minor in secondary education from the University of Memphis (Memphis, Tennessee), and has over 34 graduate hours in education from various schools including the University of Memphis, Black Hills State College, and the University of Missouri at Kansas City (UMKC).
